4. *~*~*~*~* Mega-Calendar - What's on your plate this month? *~*~*~*~* (nt) - Admin 7 weeks ago (4)

Doctor appointments, dentist appointments, 4 birthdays AND my dad is coming to visit. We haven't seen him since we moved to TN almost 3 years ago...so we are all very excited. The last time he saw Emma she was only 7 mo old and he's never met George And Grant. (nt) - room4more 7 weeks ago

Hubby has an ultrasound on the 8th, Mathew needs to see the Dr sometime at the end of the month. Fire prevention this month and a charity BBQ, Pumping drills for the tanker, so hubby will be away most of that weekend and a Halloween party at either Station 1 or 2. (nt) - canadianmom 7 weeks ago

Everything. Lots of web stuff, plus we are helping with a charity haunted house that will benefit a home for special needs kids that's losing funding due to state budget cuts. (nt) - Mirz 7 weeks ago

5. *#*#*#*#** Smiles & Tears - Share the Ups and Downs of recent life here. *#*#*#*#* (nt) - Admin 7 weeks ago (1)

6. Do you decorate for Halloween? (nt) - room4more 7 weeks ago (6)

We will do a pumpkin for the porch, that is it. (nt) - canadianmom 7 weeks ago

Yes we do the inside everyone and all the outside. oh and it is all done:) (nt) - my8angels 7 weeks ago

every room not everyone (nt) - my8angels 7 weeks ago

Nope. (nt) - Mirz 7 weeks ago

We do the front of the house, pretty extensively. (nt) - room4more 7 weeks ago

7. Do the kids all know what they want to BE this Halloween? Do you give them a deadline to decide by? (nt) - room4more 7 weeks ago (4)

The small kids will dress up, but most of us hate Halloween. (nt) - canadianmom 7 weeks ago

yep all know what they want to be and no there is no deadline as I know sometimes they change their minds. I have already gone and bought all their costumes. (nt) - my8angels 7 weeks ago

I have about a 50/50 mix of who knows and whos still deciding.....and I do give them a deadline, otherwise they would be changing their minds up till the very end. (nt) - room4more 7 weeks ago

8. Do you and/or dh dress-up? (nt) - room4more 7 weeks ago (6)

If we go to the Dept Halloween party we do. Last year I wore my sari and went as a foreign call centre worker from Bangalore. (nt) - canadianmom 7 weeks ago

ROFL! Do you do a pretty good accent?? (nt) - room4more 7 weeks ago

I do (nt) - my8angels 7 weeks ago

Yes, we both do. (nt) - room4more 7 weeks ago

Only if we have a party at our house. (nt) - PaulaK 5 weeks ago

9. What fall time traditions do you have? (nt) - room4more 7 weeks ago (6)

We have Thanksgiving here in Canada in October, so that is what we mainly do. We used to go out to a country market and get apple cider and a bushel of apples and our pumpkins to get ready for Thanksgiving and Halloween. However, the older couple that ran it gave up the business 2 years ago. (nt) - canadianmom 7 weeks ago

Well, we really don't do Halloween, but this year's an exception because of our volunteer work. We also like to go to our local apple orchard. Didn't last year because of finances, and not sure this year. (nt) - Mirz 7 weeks ago

we - my8angels 7 weeks ago

Carving pumpkins, trick or treating, and usually one or two local activities. (nt) - room4more 7 weeks ago

Picking and carving pumpkins, trick or treating and some years we host a big Halloween party. Does attending endless football, soccer, volleyball and cross country events count as a tradition? LOL (nt) - PaulaK 5 weeks ago

10. Has anyone turned their furnaces on yet? (nt) - canadianmom 7 weeks ago (5)

No. I really try to hold off til the last possible minute. But, we've had a few very cold nights and I don't think it's gonna be long. (nt) - Mirz 7 weeks ago

No, we use a wood burning furnace, so it has to get pretty cold to seem worth building a fire for. (nt) - room4more 7 weeks ago

We have turned ours on already, mostly to take the dampness out of the house. (nt) - canadianmom 7 weeks ago

Yes, it has been chilly especially with the endless rain! Building an ark today! (nt) - PaulaK 5 weeks ago

11. Michele, how is Mathew feeling? Is his recovery going well? (nt) - room4more 7 weeks ago (2)

Mathew is doing really well, he is still a bit sore and a little groggy, but I think he is recovering better then my other 2 did at this point.-BTW Congrats on #10!!!! (nt) - canadianmom 7 weeks ago

12. Well, I guess #10 isn't any longer. I either got a false + or had an early m/c. Just wanted to update. (nt) - room4more 6 weeks ago (5)

Oh, Michele I am so sorry to here that! (nt) - canadianmom 6 weeks ago

(((((((Hugs))))))))) I'm so sorry, that's so disappointing. (nt) - duedrop 6 weeks ago

Oh I am sorry hugs to ya! (nt) - my8angels 6 weeks ago

Oh, dear!! I'm sorry. (nt) - mum2adozen 6 weeks ago

13. What's planned for the weekend??? What's the weather like where you're at? (nt) - room4more 6 weeks ago (11)

Today my mom is going to watch the kids so that I can help dh clean/organize his office. I don't know what we are doing tomorrow yet. Yesterday.... - room4more 6 weeks ago

snicker-snicker, they probably thought you were going to feed the animals and you did! LOL (nt) - canadianmom 6 weeks ago

Now do you buy a yearly membership or just pay as you go. We always buy the yearly one that way if a week is tight we still have something to do. (nt) - my8angels 6 weeks ago

I buy a family membership for $85.00, plus we put my mom as an extra adult in lue(sp) of the two guest passes that come with it. It would have cost $120.00 for all of us to get in for ONE day, so the mebership is a really good deal. I also get our science center membership from a place in Florida....a family membership is $35.00 ~ That's WAY cheap!!, I also bought my mom an individual for $25.00. Mom will take the kids for a day if she has some place fun to go with them, so it works out well when I need a day to get caught up on stuff. (nt) - room4more 6 weeks ago

We are hanging out in the house. Hubby's last pay was dinged heavily for "fees" imposed by the company. So his vacation pay and last pay was $434.-it should have been $596. EI will not make a decision on renewing his claim until the 23rd of the month-so we shall see. So without any money we can't do to much! (nt) - canadianmom 6 weeks ago

hugs Michele. I hope EI decides to renew his claim! (nt) - room4more 6 weeks ago

went to the oldest apple tree festival today. It was very nice not many things around are all free but this was and it had lots for the children to do. I even got a clipping from it to grow another apple tree in the yard. tomorrow is Mass then Marissa has her reconciliation class. Then dh and kiddos are putting up the rest of the graves. (nt) - my8angels 6 weeks ago

Sounds like fun. Did you guys make your own graves? (nt) - room4more 6 weeks ago

Yes it was and yep we make all the graves and tombstones. they make a few more every year and have been doing it for 10 years or so now we also have those 6 foot high motion activated figuers. My dh and the kids always - my8angels 6 weeks ago

oooooo, you have one of the cool houses that we love to visit! We do alot too, but not as much because we live out in the country, so it's just us to enjoy it, but I know if we lived in town we'd be even more inspired!! (nt) - room4more 6 weeks ago

14. Monday!! I can smell the coffee brewing as we "speak", What are today's temperature highs for your area? (nt) - canadianmom 6 weeks ago (4)

Good morning ladies!! I hope everyone had a good weekend! We are looking at a high of 67 and mostly cloudy, but I'll take it, they said it was supposed to rain yesterday and then changed it sometime last night while I was sleeping. It's like the weather fairy came and granted me a wish....lol! (nt) - room4more 6 weeks ago

We will hit a high of 16 C/60 F and it it supposed to be partly sunny. (nt) - canadianmom 6 weeks ago

high of 69F and low of 42F and it is supposed to be cloudy but it looks like the sun wants to come out and play (nt) - my8angels 6 weeks ago

15. What time do your kids go to bed? Do you wake them up in the morning or just let them get up on their own? And is it just my teenage son, or do they all sleep a lot?? (nt) - room4more 6 weeks ago (5)

5 and under 8:00 and 5 -14 9:00 15 and up 11:00. I do not wake in the morning they all have those built in alarm clocks. Everyone needs to have breakfast and room done and dressed in their uniforms and in the school room by 9 am. I do remember those day though when my older boys hit the teen years and all of a sudden seem to need a ton of sleep. lol. once again it too shall pass hang in there. (nt) - my8angels 6 weeks ago

I have to wake 'em or they are s'posed to use an alarm clock...we always get to bed too late. teenagers are growing as fast as they did in their toddler years so they do need more sleep...not something most of them are willing to admit...and their inner clock seems to be set on night owl time (nt) - mum2adozen 6 weeks ago

My kids tend to go to bed too late and wake up to early... I have a couple of teenagers that will take a "power snooze" during the day. (nt) - canadianmom 6 weeks ago

Teens go to bed when they are ready, varies night to night depending on homework load and sports schedules. 9yo goes to bed by 9:30 and 1-6 yos between 8:30 and 9. Teens wake up on their own, I wake 9 yo and younger. All of my teens sleep a lot on the weekend, and I let them--they work hard during the week on school, sports and chores and need extra sleep to "catch up." (nt) - PaulaK 5 weeks ago

16. How many of you gals have a fire escape plan for your homes? - canadianmom 6 weeks ago (6)

We do. We also go for the open house in October and we check our battery ones every October 31. (nt) - my8angels 6 weeks ago

We used to be better prepared, must make it a priority now that summer is approaching. (nt) - duedrop 6 weeks ago

Do you Aussies' have more house fires in the summer? - canadianmom 6 weeks ago

I don't mind you asking at all, - duedrop 6 weeks ago

We have a plan and we check the detectors. We used to visit the fire hall, but since we moved I haven't seen a "open house" advertised. (nt) - room4more 6 weeks ago

17. Thursday! the weekend is in sight! When do you all buy your pumpkins and when do you carve them? (nt) - canadianmom 6 weeks ago (4)

I think we will do it next week while my dad is here. (nt) - room4more 6 weeks ago

We already have ours. they are in the front they will be carved at our pumpkin carving party 2 weekends before halloween. (nt) - my8angels 6 weeks ago

I tend to wait until late in the month bc if we have any unusually warm weather, they will mold if cut! (nt) - PaulaK 5 weeks ago

18. HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!! What's planned for the weekend?? (nt) - room4more 6 weeks ago (11)

COOL!!! (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago

Wow! What did you cook?? (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

19. Happy Thanksgiving!!! (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago (7)

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, Michele!!! I hope your feast was as good as it sounded!! (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

We are having our dinner today, some people had theirs yesterday and some will have it on Monday. The stuffing smells unbelievably good and it is not even cooked yet. (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago

hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving. Just curious our Thanksgiving is when the pilgrims and the indians had theirs. What does yours represent? Hope you dont mind me asking. (nt) - my8angels 5 weeks ago

Nope I don't mind! This is an excerpt from an article I use for homeschooling on our Holiday, it is a really good explanation- - canadianmom 5 weeks ago

Very interesting. You know, I had never even thought about any of that before, but it makes sense. TFS. (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

thanks for sharing I found it very interesting. Love learning new things (nt) - my8angels 5 weeks ago

20. So sweet.....I have to share.... - room4more 5 weeks ago (4)

what a great older brother! You should be very proud of him, give him a pat on his back from me and tell him I think he did an awesome thing today. (nt) - duedrop 5 weeks ago

That is a good young man!-those are the guys that turn into good husbands and fathers! (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago

that is wonderful, Happy Birthday Grant and George. (nt) - my8angels 5 weeks ago

21. It is a FROSTY Monday!!! We have a holiday today up here past the 49th parallel, so we aren't doing much. What is everyone else doing today? (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago (4)

We just got in from the dentist..6mo check-ups and now I am on my way back out to take one to the dr. Busy, busy..... (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

We had a washer and dryer given to us. So hubby hooked up the washer-our other one is just about shot and we need a new plug for the dryer, then we will be back to 2 dryers again! (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago

That's GREAT! Lucky you!!! (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

22. So, I'm sitting in the waiting room for the dentist and the tech comes out with Blake, looks around the room and says... - room4more 5 weeks ago (8)

WOW!!! now you'd better behave young lady!;-) (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago

Maybe I should go to an R rated movie and see if they card me? LOL...now I'm just dream'in.... (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

or get carded at the bar!!! (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago

A bar...rofl. When was the last time you were in a bar??? I seriously can't even remember the last time I was in one?? Now THAT makes me feel old. (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

the last time I was in a bar to have a drink was in 1993-WOW! '93, that was a while ago...I am going to be 35 next month, I can't believe it! (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago

I laid in bed last night trying to remember and stillhasn't come to me. I'm going to have to dig deep into the archives of my brain for this one! (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

I thnk you look very youthful in your photo too. What a lovely day, a great boost for morale just before your birthday too. (nt) - duedrop 5 weeks ago

23. What is your favorite Halloween candy? What is your Dh's favorite? What do the kids like best? (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago (5)

We're not too picky when it comes to candy, but I can tell you what we don't like....cheap penny candy when we go trick or treating...lol (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

TWIX... oh yeah, I candy tax the kids for it. lol (nt) - gelsum 5 weeks ago

Hubby has been known to beg- shamelessly- for the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. I like the Snickers bars and the kids like the chips and pop the best. (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago

hmm can't have sugar so none but it used to be almond joys (nt) - my8angels 5 weeks ago

24. Help settle this one.... - room4more 5 weeks ago (10)

I'm leaving you to yourselves... I've had enough semantic fights w/my own DH. lol btw, is salt a seasoning or a condiment? Dictionaries come in handy as a truce, but they often bite me. (nt) - gelsum 5 weeks ago

It's all friendly fire....this time....lol (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

Oh, and I would say that salt is a seasoning.... (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

But the stupid dictionary called it a condiment.... so DH won and I vowed revenge at every burst of his laughter. (nt) - gelsum 5 weeks ago

That's just wrong, what dictionary did you use, maybe it was outdated or something??? LOL, I know if the dic says it, it IS, but really, a condiment? That excedes my logic. (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

Okay, my research shows.... - room4more 5 weeks ago

Well, he trapped it and it died. I say it was a "death by trapping". If he intended to trap and release, then the mouses' death was accidental. Andy and I debate whether the proper term is "Queen Anne's Lace" or "Wild carrot"-I say Queen Anne's Lace!!! (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago

wild carrot??....I've never even heard of that? We don't catch and release around here....death is our goal...lol. (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

I'd say a trapper (nt) - my8angels 5 weeks ago

25. Heading to the airport to pick up my dad!!! I'm SO excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago (3)

Hope you have a nice time while hes there:) (nt) - my8angels 5 weeks ago

How exciting! Hope you all have a fantastic time together. (nt) - duedrop 5 weeks ago

26. Do we have a birthday girl today? I believe it is Michele...wife of a rodent trapper, killer of snakes, mother of 9.... - canadianmom 5 weeks ago (6)

LMAO......Thanks! (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

Happy birthday Michelle! Hope your day is filled with love and laughter, hugs and kisses, cake and pressies! (nt) - duedrop 5 weeks ago

Happiest of birthday to you, Michelle!!! (nt) - mum2adozen 5 weeks ago

Happy Birthday... late (nt) - gelsum 5 weeks ago

happy belated birthday . (nt) - my8angels 5 weeks ago

27. Good morning Mega Moms!!! Who has bunk-beds in their house & if you do how many sets do you have? (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago (7)

We have 2 sets, but only one set is set up as bunks, the other set is just used as 2 twins beds. (nt) - room4more 5 weeks ago

we have three sets and need to go ahead and build the fourth. (nt) - msjennbug 5 weeks ago

We have 6 sets in Canada & 6 sets here in Ukraine....bunk bed king & queen, huh?? (nt) - mum2adozen 5 weeks ago

I think you win, rofl! (nt) - duedrop 5 weeks ago

3 sets, 2 as bunk beds, 1 set split between the boy and a girl.... the other kids are in toddler/crib and a couple girls have day beds. (nt) - gelsum 5 weeks ago

2 sets of bunkbeds and one twin with a trundle (nt) - my8angels 5 weeks ago

28. Just wanted to let you all know that my keyboard went on my 1 computer and the screen is barely functioning on my lap top. So if I don't post anything until Tuesday (pay day) you all know why! (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago (4)

thinking of you mate (nt) - duedrop 5 weeks ago

thanks dear, however my Uncle happened to have an old keyboard at his home and he has given it to us. YAH!! A few hours without my computer was like loosing my right arm! (nt) - canadianmom 5 weeks ago

yay! (nt) - duedrop 4 weeks ago

29. It's the weekend! What do you have planned??? (nt) - room4more 4 weeks ago (7)

Zip-zilch , in short zero! (nt) - canadianmom 4 weeks ago

today was shopping day and I hit an awesome sale at our big lots store - my8angels 4 weeks ago

You hit a GREAT!!! sale. Do you save your pumpkin seeds and roast them? (nt) - canadianmom 4 weeks ago

We grow the giant pumpkins so some seeds are saved for next years planting and then some are roasted. We get alot of seeds so we vacuum seal some of the rosted ones for later use. (nt) - my8angels 4 weeks ago

I LOVE it when I find sales like that!! They make me SO happy!! (nt) - room4more 4 weeks ago

yea so do i. I spent $34.00 and the receipt said I saved $250.50. I was thrilled. I even was able to get the stuff I needed for the family we adopted this year for Christmas. (nt) - my8angels 4 weeks ago

30. Well we are getting closer to Halloween! Are any of you concerned with getting the H1N1 while trick or treating? (nt) - canadianmom 4 weeks ago (9)

hadn't thought about it. But you do have me thinking now. (nt) - my8angels 4 weeks ago

ewww, Michele! I hadn't thought of that! You may have single handedly ruined Halloween for us!!! (nt) - room4more 4 weeks ago

Yah kind of a buzz kill aren't I? I got asked this question on the weekend and wondered if anyone had thought of it! (nt) - canadianmom 4 weeks ago

Ya know... I think we are just finishing up with H1N1. Not confirmed for us... we never went to a Dr. But then I didn't see anything made me think we should. - gelsum 4 weeks ago

Sorry you guys were sick. It sounds like it was just pretty much the regular flu?? (nt) - room4more 4 weeks ago

It is difficult to say... - gelsum 4 weeks ago

I'm soory. I worded my last post wrong. I didn't mean for it to sound like I thought you didn't have H1N1, I meant to say that it sounded like the H1N1 wasn't any worse than the reg flu. I feel a little better hearing about it from you....I keep fearing getting it and all of us feeling like we are on our death beds. (nt) - room4more 4 weeks ago

Don't worry about it... I thought I hadn't been clear. I was pretty worried about getting it too, and now feel rather jerked around by the media. (nt) - gelsum 4 weeks ago

31. Good Monday morning ladies!! I hope everyone had a good weekend? What's planned for the week ahead? Have you had your 1st frost yet? We had ours last night and it is so pretty this morning. (nt) - room4more 4 weeks ago (7)

had a great weekend. No frost here. This week I am wrapping christmas presents, have a paschal meeting and coming to terms with my ds (18 yr old) going away for Thanksgiving. He got invited to Hawaii for Thanksgiving week. (nt) - my8angels 4 weeks ago

What is paschal? That's got to be hard to say goodbye when they grow up. I keep counting the years....it really does go way too fast! I can't believe you are wrapping already....knowing you, you have BEEN wrapping for some time now!.....so organized!! (nt) - room4more 4 weeks ago

You know I know it may be a once in a lifetime chance for him to go - my8angels 4 weeks ago

Sounds like a wonderful adventure for him! (nt) - room4more 4 weeks ago

We have had several frosts already. BOO! HISSS! We did nothing this weekend. Andy's new job has him working the "Middle East work week"- Sunday to Thursday. However it is straight nights for the foreseeable future. Right now I am trying very hard not to loose the little patience I have left with my brother as he is just a pathetic loser... (nt) - canadianmom 4 weeks ago

I'm glad that he found work. Working nights has to be hard on you guys, especially with home schooling this year. I hope he is a sound sleeper! (nt) - room4more 4 weeks ago

32. How many times a day do you run your dishwasher? Do you wash pots and pans in it or do them by hand? (nt) - room4more 4 weeks ago (10)

We don't have a dishwasher anymore, it died. All the dishes are done by hand. This is continuous! Some of our larger pots and serving trays are washed in the bath tub, they don't fit in the kitchen sink. (nt) - canadianmom 4 weeks ago

My dishwasher has been dead since mid Sept. I really miss it. When we get a new one it will be running 2-3 times a day and doing pots by hand. (nt) - mom2twelve 4 weeks ago

use ours 2-3 times a day and then a load for pans. (nt) - my8angels 4 weeks ago

Not enough? lol should be run a min of twice. Pretty much all pots and pans are hand wash.... and hey this set has held up much better than any others. lol (nt) - gelsum 4 weeks ago

We run ours once a day. We do the pots, pans or any other big pieces by hand and I have the kids do their own cereal bowls after breakfast. But lately I've been having more days that we end up running it twice, so I think we are moving in that direction......but I feel bad for it, wasteful, so I wondered what was "normal" for our size families. (nt) - room4more 4 weeks ago

Sometimes at our home in Canada I run it 4 times aday...still have to wash the big pots & baking pans...depends how much we bake...but here in Ukraine we wash all by hand just hoping I'll have enough water...amazing how thankful we are to be able to wash our dishes by hand (nt) - mum2adozen 4 weeks ago

I have to ask(m) - canadianmom 4 weeks ago

Glad to answer.... as a child we lived on an Indian reserve in Arizona next to a children's home then my first job was in the hospital nursery...the next one was as a nurse back at the same reservation in a children's emergency shelter...then I married DH (m) - mum2adozen 3 weeks ago

ours is dead too atm. :( Constant handwashing for us too, we used to run the washer twice a day and handwashed the big stuff. I miss it dreadfully. (nt) - duedrop 3 weeks ago

33. Pizza! How many pizza's do you need to feed your family? What size pizza do you buy? (nt) - canadianmom 4 weeks ago (4)

We make our own pizza every Friday, I guess they woould be a size large? We make 6 and usually have one and a few pieces left over for lunch the next day. (nt) - room4more 4 weeks ago

when I make pizzas I make sheet pizzas which is on a rectangle pan which is the size of my oven rack and I make 4. When I buy pizza it is from papa murphys and we buy the family size and I buy 5. (nt) - my8angels 4 weeks ago

Hope you feeling well soon. Have you tried your local pharmacy stores that seems to be the place here to get them. My dh work gave the shots out here for there employees. (nt) - my8angels 3 weeks ago

Unfortunately this vaccine (H1N1) is not available through the pharmacy here... - canadianmom 3 weeks ago
