Home is where the heart is. It's where we hang our hats, raise our children, and spend the better part of our lives. We want to keep it running smoothly, looking nice, and organized. With kids, particularly lots of kids, that can be a challenge. This board is here for you to share your tips, tricks, advice, ask questions, and generally chat with others about keeping our homes, and all its many extensions, in order. All visitors of Lotsofkids are welcome to post on this forum, regardless of family size!

Michelle, 34, 6 kids and we have gone every weekend, but that may slack off a bit with holiday travel and such (nt) - queenmommy911 07/01/2009 07:32

beth (34) with 5 kids I try to go to the lake almost every day after dinner. It isn't that far from the house (nt) - proudmommy5 07/01/2009 08:19

Lisa w/7. We go as often as I can afford. Probably averages 1xweek. (nt) - joyofsix 07/01/2009 09:38

Sally, 25. nky. I've not been swimming since 2005. I'm not sure precisely where my local pool is here! (nt) - mini-mug 07/01/2009 10:01

Kate, 34, 32 weeks with #4. Not too often, unless we are on vacation or go to the beach (ocean) at my parents' house. (nt) - mama-san 07/01/2009 12:01

Michele,34, with 10 kids. I used to swim all the time, now we don't have a pool, I don't know when I will get the chance to swim. (nt) - canadianmom 07/01/2009 12:01

Michelle, 39, with 8. We have a quik-set pool, so the kids go in whenever it's warm enough. I rarely swim. Maybe 1-2 times a year. (nt) - Mirz 07/02/2009 00:07

Kim (44) with 12 kids, 9 still at home. Go everyday once the pool is clear and the weather cooperates. (nt) - kmomof12 07/02/2009 04:33

Alison w/4. I take the kids swimming about twice a week. (nt) - wantabunch 07/02/2009 06:41

5. *@*@*@*@* Washing Wednesday! - What's your favorite way to soften clothes? Softener, dryer balls, etc? Share your tips! *~*~*~*~* - Mirz 07/01/2009 07:17 (14)

We're using softener right now because DH bought a ton of less-than-great-smelling detergent (nt) - queenmommy911 07/01/2009 07:34

softener. I make my own detergant it works great but doesn't have much of a smell so I use the softner to help the clothes smell fresh and clean (nt) - proudmommy5 07/01/2009 08:19

I don't use anything. (nt) - joyofsix 07/01/2009 09:39

(nt) - gelsum 07/01/2009 14:52

(nt) - wantabunch 07/02/2009 06:38

Dryer balls. If I'm hanging stuff outside, I will use liquid softener or vinegar. (nt) - mama-san 07/01/2009 12:01

Liquid softener or vinegar. (nt) - canadianmom 07/01/2009 12:03

I guess we don't really soften anymore. I use foil in the dryer. Sometimes I use vinegar in the wash, but for odors not softening. (nt) - ckmom 07/01/2009 13:38

Because many of my kids have texture issues with clothes, I need to use a softener. So, I use liquid from the store. Only 1-2 brands I can buy that don't affect the kids. (nt) - Mirz 07/02/2009 00:05

Ah kids. We stopped using it and all scents because of ds's asthma and allergies. (nt) - joyofsix 07/02/2009 00:57

I have to laugh. Raif can't say much, but if he has a shirt on that hasn't been softened, or has been line-dried and is particularly stiff, he'll just come up to me and say, "itchy, itchy, itchy, itchy." Granted, he's not breaking out, it's just bugging him to no end. It's kinda funny. (nt) - Mirz 07/02/2009 03:56

Normally don't use anything. If I do it's dryer sheets or the downy ball. We just tend to stay stiff and staticy (nt) - kmomof12 07/02/2009 04:35

I put vinegar in the rinse with my towels, sheets & cloth diapers. I haven't used softener in ages. I recently won a complete laundry kit that is balls for the wash & the dryer.....I can't wait to get them!!! (nt) - Denise1066 07/02/2009 16:55

7. Holiday Plans ( or What You Did if You live in Canada)  (nt) - joyofsix 07/02/2009 01:41 (6)

Our little town has a festival over the 4th so a parade, fireworks, kids' games, a rodeo and demolitions derby. We won't do it all but definitely the fireworks and parade. Probably cook out Saturday. (nt) - joyofsix 07/02/2009 01:43

We watched Fireworks last night, Canada is 142 years old! (nt) - canadianmom 07/02/2009 03:12

Maybe the symphany outdoor concert and fireworks on Friday (if the weather cooperates). My uncle's cookout on the lake on Saturday. Church on Sunday. (nt) - kmomof12 07/02/2009 04:36

My Mom's bday is 7/2 and her town's fireworks are usually 7/3 so they have a party every year to coincide with the two... - mama-san 07/02/2009 07:47

Tomorrow we are doing a small at-home celebration for Monty. Saturday is the 4th and we have a family BBQ. Sunday we'll do the at-home celebration for Violet. (nt) - Mirz 07/02/2009 09:52
