This is my favorite discount grocery store. I can go in and get all of my staple food items, especially canned goods and fill my food storage up and spend probably a third of what I would in a normal store.

Our last shopping trip we filled 3 shopping carts full and it was just over $400. which included 20 boxes of cereal, and about 200 canned goods (less than $90 for that), meats, bread and more!

You do have to have some spare change for "cart rentals". It's .25¢ a cart but you get that back when you return the cart.

Also know before hand that you have to pay for your bags (5¢ for paper and 10¢ for reuasable heavy duty pastic) if you want them or you can bring your own (reusing other store bags or canvas bags) or you can gather boxes from the aisles and box your groceries.

All of this is to help keep the costs low. If they don't have to replace damaged, stolen, or old carts (due to weather damage) as often then the savings is passed on to you. If they don't waste extra money on a "bagger" or free and flimsy bags, then the savings is again passed on to you.

This is by far our most used grocery store that helps this family of 9 save money but still feed everyone.

I have to second this positive review of Aldi! On average, I'd say that I buy 1/2 to 2/3 of my weekly groceries at Aldi. The reason I don't buy all of my groceries at Aldi is because Aldi doesn't have everything I need, and there are a few items I've found cheaper at our local Wal-mart Supercenter.

Be aware, however, that, although Aldi does carry some name brand food items, they are usually seasonal items which they don't carry all the time. Most of the items Aldi has are off-brand or Aldi's "generic" brands. If you must buy name brands for food, Aldi probably isn't your best bet, but if you don't mind generic or off brands, Aldi is certainly a great place to shop!
