If I had to say what one of the best gifts I have ever received was, hands-down, I would say my Spacemaker coffee maker. No small appliance in my house can say it gets more use, save my microwave. And considering I have had 3 microwaves in the span of time that I had my 1 coffee maker, that says a lot.
I was given my Spacemaker over 10 years ago, and just recently is died. Considering that we have made at least 1 pot of coffee a day, and sometimes up to 5-6 a day (for hosting and parties), I think it shows what a workhorse the machine is.
What sets this apart from other coffee makers is 2 things. First of all, it's selling point. This coffee maker mounts under the cabinet, which frees up much needed counter space. Second, it is super easy to fill and set-up. Most other coffee makers, filling is a 2-step process, meaning you need to fill the carafe with water, then pour the water into the reservoir. With the Spacemaker, you pull out the removable reservoir, fill, and slide back into the unit. It makes cleaning much easier too.
I happened to be lucky. When my Spacemaker died, my mother had one that she no longer used due to a reconfiguration of her kitchen (the cabinet she had it mounted under was removed). So, I got a handy replacement of the same model which is identical to the one you see here:
Though, I have to admit being a little jealous at having this option now, since I have learned the unit has been redesigned and also offers a thermal carafe version:
I would highly recommend this coffee maker!
