There are a few things you may need to know in order to print your charts out correctly. This tutorial was written specifically for those using Internet Explorer, however I have been told that other browsers have similar functionality and you should be able to accomplish the same thing using a similar method. Your best bet is to check your browser's HELP file.

General Printing of Webpages: There are several ways to print a webpage. Below we cover 2 of the most typical ways.

1. Most browsers have a bar of utilities that run across the top, just above the URL line. Look for the icon of the printer. You should be able to click on it once and the page should automatically start printing.

2a. Another way is to actually print from the page without using the browser controls. Place your mouse anywhere on the screen. Click the right mouse button. A new window will open up. Move your mouse down to the "print" option. Depending on your settings, the page may start printing of you may need to move to the next step.

2b. Another box will pop up. It will give you all of the details of your printer. You don't need to make any changes unless you want to. Simply press "print" and your page should start printing.

Printing Without Header and Footer Text: When you print a webpage, normally you will see text written at the very top and bottom of the page. The top text is typically the website's name, the bottom information is the full URL of the page. When you are printing your charts, you may not want that text on the page. In order for it to print "clean", you must tell your computer to not print the header and footer information.

1. Open your browser. Go to the "File" tab at the very top of the page. A menu will pull down. Click on Page Setup.

2. A new window will open up. You'll notice there is a setting for "Headers and Footers." The bit of code you see in those boxes tells your printer to generate the page information on the top and bottom of your printed page.
3. Delete the codes in the two boxes. Click on OK to save the settings.

Note: doing this will set your browser to always print without header and footer tags. Be sure you are okay with this. If you want to go back later and have it reprint the information on the page, you need to re-enter the codes. You may want to copy the codes before deleting them so you can redo them later.

Adjusting the Margins on Your Printed Page: Since each browser and every printer is different, there is really no way for us to totally control how the charts will print on your machine. If you print the page and find that it is off a bit, adjusting the print margins may help.

1. Open your browser. Go to the "File" tab at the very top of the page. A menu will pull down. Click on Page Setup.

2. A new window will open up. You'll notice there is a setting for "Margins (inches)." These numbers indicate how far from the edge of the page the text will print. So 0.75 means that it will print 3/4th of an inch from the edge. Most printers will not let you print right to the edge, so you probably won't be able to set it to exactly zero. 0.25 is usually the cut-off. Decide which margins you need to change, left/right or top/bottom, or both. Make the changes and click OK to save.

Note: This will change the margins on ALL future web-based print jobs. Be sure to remember or write-down the original setting so you can change it back later if you desire.
