 Blinkies are fun little graphics you can create to decorate your webpages, use on message boards, or include in your emails. You can make them pretty easily with a graphics program. But if you are not handy with Photoshop, or simply don't have a lot of time, a blinkie maker can help you create one quickly. Since we are always striving to develop fun utilities for our visitors, we thought it would be nice to do one for the site with an emphasis on family images. To create a blinkie, simply drag and drop the pieces you want into the box--you can arrange them any way you want. Once the picture is done, hit the "print screen" button on your keyboard (it's located to the right of the F12 key). This will copy your blinkie to your computer's clipboard. Then simply open a graphics program, such as Paintshop Pro. If you don't have one, most operating systems come with a simply paint program that you can use. "Paste" your selection into the program, crop it and save! That's it. For a picture tutorial on how to make/save a blinkie, click here. Want to animate your blinkie (i.e make it flash or move)? You'll need an animation program to do that. A great free one is Unfreez. You can download it here. To make a blinkie, you need to make separate versions of your graphicse, since computer animation works the same as conventional animation--it takes several pictures with slight variations and compiles them to make a "moving" graphic. In our BARS category, we have created complimenting images, so you can easily make your graphic blink (just copy the same pictures/text to both sides of the image and animate in your favorite paint program).
